Introduction

Vega Player is a video player you add with one tag. It works like <video>, with nicer controls on top: thumbnails on the progress bar, a quality menu, captions, Picture-in-Picture and a sign-up overlay if you need one.

Hover the progress bar to see the thumbnails.

<script type="module" src="vega-player.min.js"></script>

<vega-player src="/video.mp4" poster="/poster.jpg"></vega-player>

It’s one file, about 21 KB gzipped, with no dependencies, and it works the same in plain HTML, React, Vue or anything else.

Good for

Regular video files (MP4, WebM): product videos, landing pages, courses, trailers, members-only content.

Not for streaming

There’s no HLS/DASH, live video, DRM or ad support. If you need those, use a streaming player such as Video.js or Shaka Player.
